Our Team

Néstor David Pastor is a writer and editor, born and raised in Queens, NY. He attended SUNY Binghamton, majoring in English and Spanish, and later completed graduate studies at CUNY Queens College. Currently, he is the managing editor of Intervenxions, a publication of The Latinx Project at NYU. He is also a co-editor for a forthcoming volume on Nuyorican visual art. His past experiences includes the North American Congress on Latin America and the Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College. In 2023, he participated in the NALAC Leadership Institute as a national fellow.

Pablo Medina Uribe is also a writer and translator, but he only pretends to be a musician. Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, he works as the editor-in-chief of Colombian fact-checking organization Colombiacheck. His freelance journalism work focuses on the sociopolitical aspects of music and sports, especially those coming from marginalized communities, while his literary work tries to explore the boundaries between fiction and reality. He is looking to explore and expand Latin American science fiction. He studied Literature at Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá, and has an MA in Media Studies from The New School in NY. He lives in Bogotá.

Laura Kauer García is a writer, translator, and human rights professional. She was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but has lived in Washington DC, NY and is now based in London. Previously, she worked for the new initiative Artists at Risk Connection (ARC) of PEN America, providing urgent support to threatened artists, and worked at Human Rights Watch. She is pursuing an MA in Human Rights and Latin American Studies at the School of Advanced Studies of the University of London. Her research focuses on the right to free expression, the right to protest, and threats against human rights defenders, including artists and cultural practitioners. She’s an avid reader and writes primarily short fiction. She studied International Relations at American University in DC.

Lily Philpott is an event producer and books enthusiast. She is a member of the International Literature Committee at the Brooklyn Book Festival, and a member of the advisory board of UK publisher And Other Stories. Born in Santiago, Chile, she lives and works in New York City.
